History of AST
Since the early start of the company we have been producing high-quality plastic packaging with hazardous goods approval at our headquarters in Erndtebrück.
Our journey began with a single blow moulding machine, but our vision and determination have made us a market leader in the plastic packaging industry. Under the leadership of Albrecht Strohmann and his two sons, Dirk & Jörg Strohmann, AST has grown steadily. Today, Dirk and Jörg Strohmann are the sole managing directors of the company. The legacy of AST (abbreviation of Albrecht Strohmann) continues in the family.
In 2005, two independent production facilities have developed and flourished in Erndtebrück. These two production facilities not only give us increased capacity, but also open up space for innovation and customised solutions. With an impressive production capacity, we are able to fulfil the most diverse requirements of our customers.
Our machinery is young and ultra-modern, which not only emphasises our current efficiency, but also ensures future competitiveness. By continuously automating our production processes, we focus on efficiency and precision in order to provide high-quality plastic packaging.
Since our beginnings, when the focus was on plastic jerry cans and we integrated the production of plastic drums in 2006, we have grown steadily.
With a firm foothold in plastic jerry cans, we ventured into the production of plastic drums in 2006. This strategic decision opened up new perspectives and consolidated our position as an industry leader.
We expanded our geographical presence by opening new plants in Wrexham (UK), Hoogstraten (Belgium) and Gemmingen (Germany). This expansion has enabled us to respond more flexibly to the needs of our customers in different regions. This is how the AST Packaging Group started.
The move to collaborate with EuroMouldings in Nijverdal (Netherlands) in 2017 marked another milestone. This partnership expanded our product portfolio to include plastic bottles and enabled us to offer even more diverse solutions.
We laid the foundations for our sustainable future by expanding the Sanderman Cleaning Group. Specialising in the cleaning of plastic and metal packaging, Sanderman has enabled us to take a holistic approach to sustainability and further diversify our services.
The establishment of AST Recycling und Rekonditionierung GmbH in 2020 marks a further step towards environmental protection. The plant, which we built near Erndtebrück, enables us not only to clean plastic packaging, but also to recycle it on site.
We expanded our presence in northern Germany with the establishment of Packaging Solutions North GmbH in Ovelgönne. At the same time, we established our own take-back system, CIPACKS, to create a closed cycle for our packaging solutions.
With the integration of Joh. Sieben into our portfolio underlines our endeavours to further diversify our product range and meet the constant needs of the market. With Joh. Sieben, we are expanding our product portfolio with the manufacture of customised plastic bottles and jerry cans from 15 ml to 2000 ml.
